The problem

Sound familiar?

GainGames was built to fix all four. See how

What you get

Training you can see

The builder

Log the workout you actually do

Straight sets, supersets, circuits, AMRAPs, EMOMs, For Time, intervals, Tabata and cardio. Mix them in one workout, and log each set in a couple of taps.

The 9 workout formats
A workout in progress: deadlift sets with weight and reps, a rest timer at the top, and completed sets marked in gold
  • 9 workout formats
  • Lifting and conditioning together
  • Rest timer built in

Personal records

A PR at every rep count

GainGames keeps your best weight for every rep count, from a single up to 50, so a heavy triple counts as much as a new max. Your strength curve shows them all, with an estimated one-rep max.

How personal records are counted
An exercise's personal records: best 225 for 1, an estimated one-rep max of 233, and a strength curve across rep counts
  • 16 rep ranges
  • Estimated 1-rep max
  • Celebrated the moment you hit one

Track your progress

Watch your progress, week over week

The Progress tab puts it in one place: every PR you've set, and the volume and sets each muscle got, charted week over week. Look back 4, 8 or 12 weeks, or all the way to your first workout.

Muscle rings and weekly volume
Progress, Volume over time: a weekly chart of volume for several muscle groups, with 4, 8, 12 week and all-time views
  • Every PR in one list
  • Volume and sets over time
  • Week over week

Programs and progression

Progression you control

Follow a starter program or build your own. Pick the rule for each exercise: add weight, add reps and then weight, or add time or distance. GainGames works out your next target from what you did last time, and you can always change it.

How progression rules work
A weekly upper and lower program with each day's muscles listed and today's workout highlighted
  • Your program, your rules
  • Next target worked out for you
  • Miss a day and it waits for you

Your week

One score for your whole week

Home shows today's workout and a score out of 100 for the week: did you train when you planned, enough, better than last time, and evenly. Close your weekly ring for a medal, and keep a streak going week to week.

What your week score means
The Home screen: today's workout done, a week score of 89, and rings for the muscles trained this week
  • Week score out of 100
  • Bronze, silver and gold medals
  • Week streaks

The game

Every workout counts toward something

Each workout, working set and PR earns XP toward your next level, through seven tiers from Newcomer to Legend. Badges mark the milestones, from your first workout to a three-plate deadlift. The rules are the same for everyone.

Weekly volume

See what each muscle got this week

GainGames counts your hard sets for every muscle, with half credit for the muscles that help. Each muscle's ring fills blue at its minimum, green in its best range for growth, and red when it's had more than it needs.

Muscle rings and weekly volume
Weekly training volume per muscle: rings for back, quadriceps and triceps, and sets per muscle this week
  • 15 muscle groups
  • Credit for helper muscles
  • Volume over time

Every format the builder offers, in one workout if you want.

  • SupersetTwo or more exercises back to back, then rest.
  • CircuitThree or more exercises in a row, then rest. Repeat for each round.
  • AMRAPAs many rounds as you can before the clock runs out. Reps into the next round count too.
  • EMOMEvery minute, on the minute: do the work, rest for what's left of the minute.
  • For TimeGet through all the work as fast as you can. Your time is the score.
  • IntervalsWork hard for a set time, rest, repeat. Log what you did in each round.
  • Tabata8 rounds of 20 seconds all-out, 10 seconds rest. About 4 minutes. Count your reps each round; you can fill them in at the end.
