The basics

Is GainGames free?

It's free to download, and everything in it right now is free to use.

Do I need a program to start?

No. Start a quick workout and add exercises as you go. You can turn any workout into a routine later.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export your whole history whenever you like, as a file or as text you can paste into an AI chat.

Is it on Android?

Not yet. GainGames is iPhone only for now.

How do I get help?

Email support@gaingames.app or use the contact form. It comes straight to us.

Training

Can I log CrossFit-style workouts?

Yes. AMRAPs, EMOMs, For Time, intervals and Tabata are all built in, and you can mix them with lifting in one workout.

Does it count warm-up sets?

No. Mark a set as a warm-up and it's left out of your volume, your PRs and your XP.

How does it count volume for exercises that hit more than one muscle?

The main muscle gets full credit for each hard set and helper muscles get half. A bench press set counts as one chest set and half a triceps set.

Will it change my program for me?

No. It suggests your next target from your progression rule. You decide whether to use it.

Can I add an exercise that isn't in the library?

Yes. Add your own with its name, main muscle, helper muscles, equipment and how it's measured. It gets its own PRs and history like any other exercise.

Can I log runs and other cardio?

Yes. Log runs, rucks, rides, rows and swims on their own, or as part of a workout.

The game

What do XP and levels do?

They show how much training you've put in. Every workout earns XP, and enough XP takes you to the next level.

What is the week score?

One number out of 100 for your training week. Up to 40 points come from doing your planned workouts, 30 from volume, 20 from progress and 10 from training your muscles evenly.

Can I buy XP or badges?

No. Everyone earns them the same way, by training.
